Seachem Prime

All water conditioners are NOT created equal. Over the years I have used many water conditioners, some seemed to work better than others, but nothing compares to Seachem Prime. As more and more municipalities are using cloramine instead of chlorine, the importance of conditioning the water has never been more urgent. I know this is a debated topic among fish keepers, but I trust my experience and the science of Seachem products.

Once I started using a double dose of Seachem Prime on my tap water, it eliminated the 'positive ammonia' reading. It made the water safe immediately, despite levels of chloramine that are confirmed to be present in Edmonton tap water. No other conditioner I've tried has been able to effectively remove the chloramine even at higher doses.

For me, this fact alone means that Seachem Prime is my go-to water conditioner, and will be for the foreseeable future.

Nearly all pet aquatics companies manufacture a product that removes chlorine. None of those, however, can compare in quality, concentration, or effectiveness to Seachem’s flagship product: Prime®. Prime® is the complete and concentrated conditioner for both fresh and saltwater. Prime® removes chlorine, chloramine and detoxifies ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate. It is non-acidic and will not impact pH. A further bonus for the reef hobbyist—Prime® will not over-activate skimmers.

Prime® is up to 5x more concentrated than competing products and is the second most concentrated dechlorinator on the market only after our own aquavitro® alpha™.

Prime® may be used during tank cycling to alleviate ammonia/nitrite toxicity. It contains a binder which renders ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate non-toxic, allowing the biofilter to more efficiently remove them. It will also detoxify any heavy metals found in the tap water at typical concentration levels. Use at start-up and whenever adding or replacing water.
